The mission of the OIG is to ensure the integrity and efficiency of the operation of the Philadelphia Housing Authority. To accomplish this, the OIG is organized into an Audit Division and an Investigation Division.
The Audit Division evaluates the Authority’s operations and programs. Its objectives are to assist the Authority in meeting its responsibilities. As a result of their work, areas of waste, mismanagement and inefficiency are identified for corrective action.
The Investigation Division is charged with looking into allegations of fraud and corruption; including, but not limited to, criminal offenses and serious breaches of integrity by employees or any person or entity doing business with the agency. Investigations by the OIG are commonly initiated as a result of complaints by citizens. Complaints can be made anonymously by telephone, by mail or in person.
