Housing Choice Voucher Program
The Housing Choice Voucher program is a rental subsidy program paid directly to private landlords. It will be your responsibility to find an apartment and/or house owned by private landlords who are willing to participate.

PHA opened the waitlist for the Housing Choice Voucher Program on March 2, 2010 and processed more than 53,000 phone and online applications before closing on March 15, 2010 at 6PM.

The Housing Choice Voucher Program is currently Closed

The public will be notified through TV, radio, print advertising, and in this web site when it will be reopened.

Public Housing Program
PHA's rental portfolio is separated into two categories; PHA Owned and PAPMC/Tax Credit Properties. PHA owned sites include conventional developments and scattered-site properties. PAPMC properties are privately managed, tax credit-financed sites and each maintains its own waiting list.

Applying for Public Housing

Required Information:
  1. Mailing address of head of household
  2. Phone number of head of household
  3. The following information is required for all household members:
    1. Social Security Number
    2. Date of Birth
    3. Gender
    4. Race
    5. Ethnicity
    6. Gross Monthly Income
  4. Site Selection:
    1. Public Housing - your choice of 5 sites where you would like to live or move into the first unit available that meets your needs
    2. PAPMC - your choice of sites that meet your income and household size

The Waitlist Process
When your name has reached the top of the waiting list, you will be screened for suitability and eligibility. Upon successful completion of the screening process, your application will be placed in a ready pool for housing. Based in unit availability, in your bedroom size, you will be contacted for a unit that meets your need.
