PHA Hosts It’s Annual Spelling Bee

On August 13, the Philadelphia Housing Authority (PHA) and Too Small to Fail (TSTF), the early childhood initiative of the Clinton Foundation, will host a literacy community celebration at Lucien Blackwell Community Center. The event will feature PHA’s annual Spelling Bee and highlight a new collaboration between PHA and TSTF to reach families in PHA sites with resources and programming to support early learning.


Event Details:

What: A literacy community celebration at Lucien Blackwell Community Center, kicking off a new partnership between PHA and TSTF, that includes:

  • PHA’s annual Spelling Bee for youth in PHA’s summer camps
  • A ribbon cutting for a new “Family Read, Play & Learn” space designed to increase literacy activities and interactions
  • Installation of eight new freestanding outdoor library boxes at PHA locations throughout the city

When: Wednesday, August 13. Remarks and space unveiling will begin at 10:45 A.M., with the Spelling Bee for children ages 6 to 14. beginning at 11:15 A.M.
