DETAILS:     The Hartranft Community Center (HCC), built in 1974, was a destination for the surrounding neighbors and a safe place for the children. Unfortunately, it has been closed for two decades. PHA worked closely with the former Council President Darrell L Clarke, the area’s ward leader, Ms. El, and the entire community to reopen the center.

The property is 60,000 square feet. There is an adjoining playground managed by Philadelphia Parks & Recreation that adds an additional 25,000 square feet. The footprint of the center is about 30,000 square feet on two levels. The center also offers an underground indoor swimming pool, as well as a kitchen, large multi-purpose rooms, and several classrooms.

PHA will provide services at the center.  The HCC is governed by a charter to ensure the center is properly serving the community.
