PHA Seeks Public Comments on Community Choice Registration Program
The Philadelphia Housing Authority (PHA) is seeking public comment on a Community Choice Registration Program (CCRP)which would allow qualified Neighborhood Based Non-Profit Corporations (NBNPCs) to redevelop former public housing scattered site properties for affordable rental and homeownership housing, community space, or for economic development projects that create employment opportunities for Philadelphia residents. This demonstration does not include occupied units, units scheduled for rehabilitation and reoccupancy, or those located within public housing developments.
The goal of the Community Choice Registration program is to enable NBNPCs to address community needs, while helping to build the capacity of these organizations to undertake their own community development activities.
Public comments will be accepted by PHA for a two week period. After receiving public comments, PHA will review such comments and finalize the registration process. PHA will issue the final CCRP on September 1, 2020. PHA anticipates that over 60 properties with prior HUD approval for disposition will be available for NBNPCs after September 1, 2020.
