Kinship Flower Making
On Friday, February 13, 2026, caregivers from the PHA Kinship Care Program gathered for their monthly peer support group, themed “Self-Care: The Valentine’s Day Edition.” Thirteen PHA residents participated in an engaging and reflective session focused on nurturing themselves while continuing their important care giving roles.
One of the featured activities was the creation of a self-care bouquet. Caregivers explored meaningful prompts such as “What Restores Me,” “My Support System,” “Things I Need More Of,” and “Acts of Love Toward Myself.” Each topic included guiding questions and phrases, and participants wrote their personal responses on paper petals to form individual flowers. The flowers were then combined into beautiful bouquets for each caregiver to take home. The ultimate goal of the activity was for every participant to leave with a personalized self-care plan they could reference during challenging times.
Before the session concluded, Ms. Cheryl Clarke, Director of the Caregiver Support Program at the Philadelphia Corporation for Aging (PCA), delivered an informative presentation about the services and resources available through PCA’s Caregiver Support Program. Brunch was provided for attendees, and two raffles added an extra element of fun to the event.
