PHAs focus on people brings innovative new management system into operation
PHA is the first housing authority in the United States
to implement PeopleSoft ERP system

PHILADELPHIA, PA (November 27, 2001)
- The Philadelphia Housing Authority (PHA) announced today that it has successfully implemented and launched the new PeopleSoft 7.5 ERP human resources, financial suite, general ledger and payroll management system. Many leading Fortune 500 companies have implemented the industry-leading solution for personnel and payroll management. PHA becomes the first public housing authority in the United States to implement the PeopleSoft program. The announcement was made today by PHA Executive Director Carl R. Greene.

"PeopleSoft's ERP system is an innovative and resourceful tool used by some of the largest companies in the world to manage payroll and human resources system-wide," said Greene. "With this new system, PHA will become more effective in budget management
and personnel administration. It also signals our ongoing initiative to adopt the very latest technology to become a more effective, organized and efficient operating unit."

The PeopleSoft system effectively coordinates and links a variety of different operations including Human Resources Management Systems; Payroll; Workforce Recruitment/Labor Relations/Training; General Ledger; Purchase Orders; Accounts Payable; Inventory; Project/Grants, Assets and Budget; Customer Relationship Management; and, the eProcurement/Government Portal.

"This is not simply a tool for better operations management, it also opens the door to more effective customer service," said Greene. "The PeopleSoft system will result in more reliable information that will be obtained in a more timely manner. In addition, it will streamline many of our processes so our management team can concentrate on policy and analysis instead of tasks and operations."

PHA is among the first of government agencies such as the Department of Defense and the Internal Revenue Service to utilize the PeopleSoft system. Some of the major companies using the PeopleSoft system include: Wal-Mart; Sears, Roebuck and Company; Domino's Pizza; Detroit Edison Energy Company; European Investment Bank; Brooks Brothers; Staples; MBNA America Bank; and, Campbell Soup.

PHA staff and PeopleSoft implemented the new systems within a 10-month time frame, with the first systems for Human Resource Management; Payroll; General Ledger; Accounts Payable, Inventory and Purchase Orders becoming operational in September 2001. The PHA Information Systems Management department is currently working to incorporate the new systems for Project/Grants, Assets and Budget; and as part of the final phase of the systems upgrade PHA has put out a request for proposals to assist with the implementation of our Customer Relationship Management and the eProcurement/Government Portal.
